Vol. III, Issue #1 - March 2015
**
Welcome to USBN Vol. III - Issue #1
**
Comments from the Wolfman about
this current issue as we begin our
3rd year
with many
new projects and activities. The new videos we offered
in February including "Opening Day" and the "Bill Sample Challenge",
all new
interviews, more resources, stats and tips - 2015 is gonna be
exciting!!
Hello again dear Strat
Baseball Family. Well the last time we put out a newsletter was
December last year, a time when people began to speculate on what
the new cards would be like. But, here we are in March and
leagues have already begun to use the 2015 cards, tournaments
have already played with these cards so its a brand new ballgame.
For those members who picked
up all those bulletins we sent out in February, you probably had a chance
to view our videos already about "Opening Day", February 6th at the Game
Company and Billy Sample playing our member Bryan Swank in Strat
for the 1st time on February 7th. But just case you didn't,
as we know how busy everyone can be, we linked them into this
newsletter. We also were able to obtain a nice discount
for our members on the latest "Rookie Review" by Stratogists.com,
thanks to our friends over there.
To make sure that none of our members missed all this cool stuff
as well as for those new members
who will join us in the future, again its here in this issue. So if you lost our emails for those
bulletins (or what, never read them :-( ), this newsletter has it all
here.
We have been told (pretty soon
after the newsletter comes out) the Game Company will be sharing
our story about the "Billy Sample Challenge" which could open up
some new doors that might allow us to do even more interesting
future activities. Plus, we are hoping in the future to give a few
other members the same chance as Bryan, to see if we might find
other ex-ball players who will take up a similar challenge. I of
course, (again going back to the December issue), want another
shot to
play against Tony Brizzolara as well.
Anyway even if you already have
viewed the videos and such, this issue includes more interviews
(we talk to the Strat Tournament Player's Club again with two
new interviews including their World's Champ and, we brought back Jim Callis,
who has played strat and is now linked to MLB.com reporting on
all the new Prospects headed into the majors) plus we also talk more with Baseball HQ
via their general manager Ray Murphy, who we came into contact with
through
Matt Beagle in December. Ray talks about their site which has some
of the most amazing baseball related information I have seen for an on-line fantasy site.
You should have received a
special projection file I found on MLB.com of the current players
attached to the email that invited you to our newsletter.
We have make sure that you are aware of all the wonderful new teams the game company is
offering this year along with the new version of the computer
baseball game.
We review two of the most prolific baseball guides around, more
links to on-line projection systems and
finally, I work with one of the most prolific and successful on-line strat gamers (that's the online baseball game
at Strat) Bruce Foster, who
has developed a system that he consistently wins with and I challenged
Bruce to see if his system could also work for me. As you may or
may not know, usually a system that works for one person is very
difficult to duplicate. Thus this
month I joined an "All Time Great" DH draft league
which began March 2nd. We have added of course, a few
updates to the on-line resource page and the book resource page as well.
Now while I am here, before
you go crazy through the contents of the March issue - we once
again want to encourage any and all of our members, if you have
something to share with others, an interesting story, an
unbelievable experience in a league, tournament or replay or
even, some
new strategies to share with others, please contact us. We
have always believed that this newsletter in truth is a co-creation by
all of us. Or if you have some suggestions of things you
wish to see in newsletter and we can do it, let us know. If any of you
personally know an ex-ball player who might be open to speak to
us for an interview, again we would be happy to receive such a
suggestion. Lets all make this the finest newsletter out there
for Strat-o-matic Baseball ... getting back ...
Dare I say than, another jam packed
issue of your "Ultimate Strat Baseball Newsletter" - so dear
members dig in - roam around - take your time
to digest all we have for you in this month. But of course you
know its
only going to keep getting better and better. Tell your all strat
buddies about us and as always, the newsletter is and will be FREE.
Note (reminder): Once
again, if you have just joined us recently or haven't had a chance to
read all of our bulletins and prior newsletters (since January
of 2013), you can find
everything you desire by visiting our archive webpages at:
http://archive.aweber.com/stratbaseball
So here we are go
again,
as our leagues are about to begin and MLB returns (so we can
follow all the players on our teams of course) - nothing like heading into
Spring - we thank you all for your kindness and support.
All the best and enjoy your
game play via your leagues, replays,
face-to-face and tournaments,
(GO CUBS!!)
